Ítem 22 Years of Lean Supply Chain Management: a science mapping-based bibliometric analysis(Taylor & Francis, 2020-07-28) Garcia-Buendia, Noelia; Moyano-Fuentes, José; Maqueira-Marín, Juan Manuel; Cobo, M.J.This article examines how the research into Lean Supply Chain Management (LSCM) has evolved over the period 1996-2018 with the identification of the main issues explored and future trends. A performance bibliometric analysis has been conducted through a study of published documents, citations, journal impact factor, h-index, most cited papers and authors, and data on the geographic distribution of publications. More relevantly, a science mapping analysis has been performed with SciMAT bibliometric analysis software using co-word networks in a longitudinal overview. The large number of studies of LSCM published has enabled a conceptual evolution map to be constructed of the way that this research has developed. The results have enabled us to identify four thematic areas in the LSCM field: Methods, Key factors, Internal efficiency, and Performance.Ítem A bibliometric study of Lean Supply Chain Management research: 1996-2020(Taylor & Francis, 2021-11-27) Garcia-Buendia, Noelia; Moyano-Fuentes, José; Maqueira-Marín, Juan ManuelLean Supply Chain Management is an emerging research field in Operations Management that is attracting growing attention from researchers and practitioners. This paper aims to present a comprehensive analysis of the Lean Supply Chain Management literature to understand the influence, basic research characteristics, interrelationships, and productivity of the research in this field. The present study uses BibExcel and VOSviewer software to conduct thorough bibliometric and network analyses of 715 papers published in the Web of Science database over the period 1996-2020. The use of bibliometric methods has enabled the identification of current and emerging research clusters to detect some key research topics, interrelations, and collaboration patterns. Moreover, this analysis has enabled to draw numerous conclusions and propose a roadmap for future research in the field. This paper, therefore, provides some new insights not previously evaluated in other reviews of Lean Supply Chain Management that can help researchers to understand the evolution of research trends through a proposed classification of the literature on this topic.Ítem A consumer-oriented model for analysing the suitability of food classification systems(Elsevier, 2017-05-01) Marano-Marcolini, Carla; Torres-Ruiz, Francisco J.The main function of food classification systems is to regulate the market and inform it (consumers above all) about the different types of products and their characteristics. However, the reality is that many of these systems give rise to confusion and prevent consumers from obtaining a clear idea of them, making the purchasing process more difficult. The objective of this study was to propose a method that can be used as a basis or reference framework for analysing the suitability of any food classification system, based on maximising consumer comprehension and learning, before introducing it into the market. The model proposed establishes the procedure and the necessary indicators for identifying the advantages and drawbacks of each of the different systems, making it possible to compare their suitability. The model was tested empirically by comparing the current classification of orange juices and Iberian ham with two different proposals, in an experiment conducted with an online consumer panel, and using MANCOVA to analyse the differences between the six indicators related to consumer learning results. It was concluded that the model is suitable for assessing the suitability of the classification systems, as it shows technical viability, ease of introduction in practically any situation and the ability to facilitate and guide the process of drawing up consumer-oriented food classification systems.Ítem Addressing regional tourism policy: Tools for sustainable destination management(SAGE, 2024-10) Barreal, Jesús; Vena-Oya, Julio; Mercadé-Melé, PerePolicymakers need to develop measures to counter overcrowding and relocate excess tourism in congested areas to others with fewer visitors. This article proposes a methodological framework consisting of a survey and statistical tools to a gain deeper understanding of tourist profiles and characteristics and determine how covariates affect the ratio of each group in the market. Spatial analysis is performed to determine regional cluster patterns and propose measures aimed at alleviating congested areas by redirecting tourism to other destinations with less pressure without losing the economic impact of tourism. The proposed methodology is applied to international tourists in Spain and reveals some relevant aspects of four international tourism profiles. The analysis confirms the existence of spatial dependence between Spanish regions, suggesting that the application of public policies in one region could have implications for neighbouring ones.Ítem Analysis of domestic cultural tourism spend by segment in the city of Granada: An observational data approach(Elsevier, 2019-01) Castañeda-García, José Alberto; Vena-Oya, Julio; Rodríguez-Molina, Miguel Angel; Martínez-Suárez, RocíoThis paper provides an analysis of expenditure among domestic tourists visiting a cultural destination, based on the case of the City of Granada, Spain. For that purpose, we constructed a sample of 145 domestic tourists who registered their travel expenditure via a mobile application that provided a basis for identifying tourist segments by different determinants. Using these data, first the study analyzes the determinants of spend according to tourist segment, using a latent class model. Four segments are identified, presenting significant differences in the determinants of the spend reported by the tourist, and different levels of total actual spend at the destination. Second, within the total spend, a distinction is made between a) the proportion spent on attractions and cultural activities and b) all other expenses. In particular, the study analyzes the differences in the number of purchases, the value of each purchase and the geographical distribution of the purchases across the destination. One of the main findings is that, across the four tourist segments identified in the study, there are differences in total actual spend and noncultural spend. However, within cultural spend, similar behavior is found throughout the different segments.Ítem Assessing the effects of autarchic policies on the biological well-being: Analysis of deviations in cohort male height in the Valencian Community (Spain) during Francoist regime(Elsevier, 2021) Cámara Hueso, Antonio D.This article aims to assess the impact of autarchic policies on the biological dimensions of human well-being during Francoist regime in Spain. This is done by examining the nutritional status of the population through the study of male adult heights. Our case study is the Valencian Community with the focus on the period 1940–59 which witnessed the implementation of such policies. The heights of 21-year old draftees born between 1900 and 1954 from nine municipalities (N = 87,510) were analyzed in the light of inter-cohort deviations from a secular trend established for cohorts that were not exposed to autarchy-related hardships. Height was regressed on infant mortality as a way to control for infection and therefore approach the net effect of nutrition on height outcomes. Contrarily to what was displayed by cohort height trends in themselves, the results reveal a significant worsening of the nutritional status of the male population at the time. Deviations from the expected height trend across municipalities ranged between −0.5 and −3.4 mm per year. The effects of malnutrition are found to be larger among cohorts born in the period 1920–34 in coherence with a longer exposure to autarchy hardships during adolescence. Pre-autarchy nutrition levels observed among the cohorts of 1900–14 were not regained until the cohorts 1945–49. The results also show that malnutrition had an unequal impact with the large industrial towns of our sample experiencing the poorest height outcomes. Overall, these results invite to revise conclusions obtained from the sole evidence of height trends and they question the efficiency of intervention policies implemented in Spain during the 1940s.Ítem Building bridges in uncertain times: supply relationships, lean supply chain management, and performance(Emerald, 2024-12-31) Garcia-Buendia, Noelia; Moyano-Fuentes, José; Maqueira-Marín, Juan ManuelPurpose. The purpose of this study is to examine how a focal firm’s supply relationships influence Lean Supply Chain Management (LSCM) implementation and its impact on operational performance. Design/methodology/approach. An empirical study of 285 Spanish focal firms has explored the relationships between supply uncertainty, strategic supplier performance, LSCM implementation, and operational performance. A structural equation model (SEM) was utilized to test four hypotheses. Findings. The results indicate that supply uncertainty and strategic supplier performance significantly impact on the decision to implement LSCM. The findings highlight the importance of strategic supplier performance for driving LSCM adoption. However, the study also suggests that LSCM implementation should be carefully considered in situations characterized by high supply uncertainty. Practical implications. The study suggests that enhancing LSCM implementation and improving performance from key suppliers are crucial factors in achieving favorable operational performance in focal firms. Practitioners receive guidance on aligning their supply relationships, considering contextual factors, and leveraging strategic supplier performance to drive effective LSCM implementation. Originality. This study offers novel insights by examining the antecedents to LSCM implementation from a contingency and relational perspective specifically focused on the context of supply relationships. This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge on supply chain management by shedding light on the interplay between supply uncertainty, strategic supplier performance, LSCM implementation, and operational performance.Ítem Composition of familiness: Perspectives of social capital and open systemsComposición de familiness: perspectivas de capital social y sistemas abiertos(Elsevier España, S.L.U., 2017-03-28) Cano-Rubio, Myriam; Fuentes-Lombardo, Guadalupe; Hernández-Ortiz, María Jesús; Vallejo-Martos, Manuel CarlosThe literature has usually omitted family factors from the development of strategicmodels of family firms. These businesses have instead been analysed using traditional modelsand this has led to divergent results about their performance. This paper considers the overlapof family, business, and individuals in producing the concept of familiness --- whose compositionis approached from the perspective of social capital and open systems. First Exploratory Evidence from the ltalian Scenario(Elsevier, 2019-01-25) Lombardi, Rosa; Trequattrini, Raffaele; Cuozzo, Benedetta; Cano Rubio, MyriamThis paper aims to identify the main issues and drivers of sustainable corporate governance to prevent corruption, analysing the interaction between the principal governance body–Board of Directors–and the implementation and application of corruption prevention plans by pointing out exploratory evidence from the company sample. This paper is built upon two steps. First, the content analysis research method is applied, selecting a sample of Italian companies and analysing information from the corruption prevention plans to establish the role of the Board of Directors in the management of company's system. Second, the level of the implication of Board of Directors in drafting through the identification of the Global Indicator is investigated, measuring the degree of the Board of Directors' involvement and making use of the content analysis's results. Additionally, a linear regression between the Global Indicator, companies dimensional indicator and performance indicators is carried out with the aim to define variables affecting this process. The paper proposes exploratory evidence which shows a deep understanding of the governance body in the construction and application of the corporate corruption prevention plans, taking into consideration crucial information from: the anti-corruption national legislation (Law 190/2012), risk management and organization model (Legislative Decree 231/2001), corporate sustainability and compliance programs adopted by companies. The originality of the findings derives from the need to establish an integrated sustainable corporate governance model directed at preventing corruption. Thus, this paper proposes not only the analysis of the Italian companies' compliance sustainable models to prevent corruption in their corporate governance but shows the path for future research on the topic.Ítem COVID‑19 and tourism sector stock price in Spain: medium‑term relationship through dynamic regression models(Springer, 2023-01-06) Carrillo Hidalgo, Isabel; Pulido Fernández, Juan Ignacio; Durán Román, José Luis; Casado Montilla, JairoThe global pandemic, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has significantly affected tourism, especially in Spain, as it was among the first countries to be affected by the pandemic and is among the world’s biggest tourist destinations. Stock market values are responding to the evolution of the pandemic, especially in the case of tourist companies. Therefore, being able to quantify this relationship allows us to predict the effect of the pandemic on shares in the tourism sector, thereby improving the response to the crisis by policymakers and investors. Accordingly, a dynamic regression model was developed to predict the behavior of shares in the Spanish tourism sector according to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in the medium term. It has been confirmed that both the number of deaths and cases are good predictors of abnormal stock prices in the tourism sector.Ítem Designations and consumer perceptions: An experimental study and implications for agricultural policy(Emerald, 2015-03-02) Marano-Marcolini, Carla; Parras-Rosa, Manuel; López-Zafra, EstherPurpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the labeling and denominations of olive oils and to examine to what extent these factors confuse consumers. Specifically, the authors analyze the extent to which the different denominations of olive oil prevent consumers from distinguishing among the types of olive oil. Furthermore, the authors analyze whether the current generic names of olive oil affect consumer perceptions regarding the product’s various qualities and characteristics. Design/methodology/approach The authors performed an experiment with 128 participants divided into two groups (experimental n=64 and control n=64). In the pretest, participants completed a survey with 12 terms related to olive oil. The experimental group was then trained in the meaning of each term, after which the group returned to complete the same survey. Findings The authors can confirm H1 and H2. Results show that there is no clear knowledge regarding some of these terms. Social implications This study provides positive implications to both consumers, providing them a clear information, and producers and marketers, helping distinguish in the market olive oils of more quality. Originality/value This paper is pioneer in the literature. The authors provide a number of proposals and amendments regarding olive oil names to improve the knowledge and clarity of olive oil with direct implications for agricultural policy.Ítem Determinants of the Likelihood of Tourist Spending in Cultural Micro-Destinations: Type, Timing, and Distance of the Activity as Predictors(SAGE, 2022-09) Vena-Oya, Julio; Castañeda-García, José Alberto; Rodríguez-Molina, Miguel AngelAlthough tourism expenditure has long been a pertinent topic in studies dealing with cultural tourism, its importance in recent years has become even more marked due to the consequences of low-cost tourism that many destinations are suffering. This need has been further aggravated by the impact of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Now, the only sustainable means of increasing destination revenue is to generate greater financial profitability of tourism-related activities, as opposed to increasing tourist volumes. The present study analyzes the determinants of the likelihood of tourist spending in an urban-cultural destination whose economic sustainability is being threatened by low-cost tourism. To this end, all the tourism activities of the sample (672 in total) were recorded in real time during the stay via a purpose-designed mobile application. Given the nested structure of the sample, multilevel modeling was used: the characteristics of the different tourism activities were used as predictor variables, while characteristics of the tourist were used as control variables. Regarding the former, the results suggest that spending is more likely at the beginning of the stay and in relation to non-cultural tourism activities (restaurants, shopping, transport, etc.). An interaction effect between activity location and timing (beginning vs. end of stay) was also demonstrated: at the beginning of the stay, the greater likelihood of spending was related to services or attractions outside the city center; and, toward the end, spending patterns become more static, based close to the city center. The aim is to explain the probability of tourist expenditure at each spending opportunity, thus contributing to the current knowledge of total tourist spending. This study aims to investigate the relationship between personality traits and innovative behaviour, using a mixed-methods approach to provide deeper insights into these dynamics. Design/methodology/approach The authors used a mixed-methods approach, integrating fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) with traditional multiple linear regression analysis. This study was conducted among 76 university graduates, using the Big Five personality model and the Innovator DNA model to assess innovative behaviour. Findings The findings reveal significant positive correlations between conscientiousness, extraversion and innovative behaviour. The inclusion of fsQCA allowed for a more nuanced understanding of the complex interactions between personality traits and innovative behaviour, highlighting configurations of traits that traditional methods may overlook. Research limitations/implications This study's sample size and focus on university graduates may limit the generalisability of the findings. Future research should explore these relationships in more diverse populations and settings to enhance generalisability. Practical implications The insights gained from this study can inform the development of more effective talent management strategies, helping organisations to better align personality traits with roles that demand high innovation. This approach can optimise team composition and improve innovative output. Social implications Understanding the configurations of personality traits that lead to innovative behaviour can help educational institutions and organisations foster environments that support diverse and innovative thinking, ultimately contributing to societal progress. Originality/value This research contributes to the literature by demonstrating the efficacy of fsQCA in capturing the complexities of human behaviour, particularly in the context of personality traits influencing innovation. By combining qualitative and quantitative analyses, this study provides a comprehensive perspective that enhances both methodological rigour and the depth of understanding in psychological and innovation studies.Ítem Family firms as incubators for ethical behavior: An exploratory study from the perspective of stewardship theory(Cambridge University Press, 2014-12-16) Vallejo-Martos, Manuel Carlos; Puentes-Poyatos, RaquelThis work aims to determine whether family firms have differential characteristics that make them better incubators for ethical behavior from the perspective of stewardship theory. Results show that the psychological and situational factors that stewardship theory points to as determinants in the construction of principal–steward relationships are more evident in family firms than in non-family firms. These factors result in the behavior of owners and non-family employees becoming more ethical – with all the benefits this implies for these firms.Ítem Growing taller unequally? Adult height and socioeconomic status in Spain (Cohorts 1940–1994)(Elsevier, 2022) Candela Martínez, Begoña; Cámara Hueso, Antonio D.; López Falcón, Diana; Martínez Carrión, José M.Socioeconomic inequalities and their evolution in different historical contexts have been widely studied. However, some of their dimensions remain relatively unexplored, such as the role played by socioeconomic status in the trajectory of biological living standards, especially net nutritional status. The main objective of this article is to analyze whether the power of socioeconomic status (SES) to explain differences in the biological dimensions of human well-being (in this case, adult height, a reliable metric for health and nutritional status) has increased or diminished over time. Educational attainment and occupational category have been used as two different proxies for the SES of Spanish men and women born between 1940 and 1994, thus covering a historical period in Spain characterized by remarkable socioeconomic development and a marked increase in mean adult height. Our data is drawn from nine waves of the Spanish National Health Survey and the Spanish sample of two waves of the European Health Interview Survey (ENSE) for the period 1987 to 2017 (N = 73,699 citizens aged 23–47). A multivariate regression analysis has been conducted, showing that, as a whole, height differentials by educational attainment have diminished over time, whereas differences by occupational category of household heads have largely persisted. These results indicate the need for further qualification when describing the process of convergence in biological well-being indicators across social groups. For instance, the progressive enrollment of a greater proportion of the population into higher educational levels may lead us to underestimate the real differences between socioeconomic groups, while other proxies of SES still point to the persistence of such differences.
