Ítem 76 people who making art walked together(Intellect, 2022) Moreno Montoro, María IsabelA research through the histories of encounters between people from different places, doing collective artistic practices as a way to break down barriers and apprehensions in their own lives to support the creative process of others. 76 people who making art walked together is the story of a relational encounter of writing, drinking coffee, recounting lives, while drawing, knitting, sewing and doing embroidery – much as has been the tradition of many women in Spain who have done so for many years in silence. This is our story of meeting and sharing, an emotional journey of many.Ítem A conflicting relationship. Music, Power and the Inquisition in Vice-regnal Mexico City(Cambridge University Press, 2011) Marín-López, JavierOn 8 June 1536, the first trial of the Holy Inquisition in the New World took place in the episcopal palace in Mexico City. This trial, for which the judge was fray Juan de Zumárraga, recently appointed Bishop of Mexico City and Apostolic Inquisitor, involved two musicians, Juan Moreno and Cristóbal Barrera, who had refused to play in the foundation ceremony of the Tribunal if they were not paid in advance. For this act of contempt of court, the two trumpeters were imprisoned and condemned to a fine of six libras of wax for the benefit of Mexico cathedral. Inquisitorial archives have for many years furnished evidence for the reconstruction of the religious, social and cultural past, yet these sources have been little studied by musicologists up till now. This essay will show that the documentation of the Holy Office can also be considered a useful source for the study of music in a Spanish American city like Mexico. The files held at the Archivo General de la Nación relating to inquisitorial trials afford an idea of the music heard in the squares, streets and private houses of one of the largest, wealthiest and most densely populated cities on the American continent in the colonial period. In this essay, the possible contribution of this documentation to urban music history in approached from three different but complementary angles: the first section provides a glimpse into the musical activities that took place in the main urban spaces of the city - activities such as songs and dances that were persecuted by the Inquisition; the second presents examples of musicians who were denounced to the authorities; and the third focuses on the urban profile of the Inquisition as an institution and the involvement of music in its activities. These three sections are preceded by an introduction to the documentation used and to the urban spaces that form the backdrop to this study.Ítem A New Approach for Evaluation of Cardiovascular Fitness and Cardiac Responses to Maximal Exercise Test in Master Runners: A Cross-Sectional Study(MDPI, 2022-03-16) Latorre-Román, Pedro Ángel; García-Pinillos, Felipe; Salas-Sánchez, Jesús; Muñoz-Jiménez, Marcos; Serrano-Huete, Victor; Martínez-Redondo, Melchor; Aragón-Vela, Jerónimo; Párraga, Juan AntonioAbstract: The aim of this study was to analyze the cardiac autonomic function at rest, at maximum exercise, and in recovery after exercise and to determine sex specific and age-specific values for resting heart rate (RHR), hear rate (HR)-peak, HR recovery (HRR), and HR variability at rest in master runners. Fifty endurance runners (21 women) participated in this study (43.28 5.25 years). The subjects came from different athletic clubs in Andalusia (Spain), and the testing protocol was performed in-season. A 3-km running test was performed and the cardiovascular response was monitored. Regarding sex, no significant differences were found regarding cardiovascular autonomic function at rest, during exercise, and following maximal exercise, only at rest, the standard deviation of all R-R intervals and low frequency values displayed significantly (p < 0.05) lower scores in women. 46% of athletes showed an RHR < 60 bpm. Additionally, HR-peak showed a significant correlation with age (r = 0.369; p = 0.009) and HRR5min (r = 0.476, p = 0.001). Also, endurance performance was inversely associated with obesity traits and cardiometabolic risk factors. In summary, age, sex, fitness, or anthropometrics characteristics did not show a relevant influence on cardiovascular autonomic modulation in master runners. A Randomized Controlled Trial Protocol to Test the Efficacy of a Dual-Task Multicomponent Exercise Program vs. a Simple Program on Cognitive and Fitness Performance in Elderly People(MDPI, 2021-06-16) Párraga, Juan Antonio; Aibar-Almazán, Agustín; Cabrera-Linares, José Carlos; Lozano-Aguilera, Emilio ; Serrano-Huete, Victor; Escarabajal, María Dolores; Latorre-Román, Pedro ÁngelBackground: The necessity of improve the life quality in elderly people is well-known. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of physical and cognitive training programs, as well as their combination on the cognitive functions and physical capacities in women over 80 years old. Methods: Forty-three women took part in this study (80.86 ± 5.03 years). They were divided into four groups (three experimental groups and one control group). Experimental group 1 performed cognitive training. Experimental group 2 did physical–cognitive training, and Experimental Group 3 accomplished physical training. All of training programs had duration of eight weeks (five sessions of 60 min per week). We measured cognitive variables with the Stroop test, D2 test, and Trail Making test. Physical variables were measured with handgrip strength, Minute Step Test, and visual–acoustic reaction time. Results. Control group reduces his physical and cognitive capacities, while the three experimental groups increase these capacities. We found a strong correlation between the increase of physical and cognitive capacities. Conclusion: Eight weeks of training physical, cognitive or mixed, increased physical and cognitive functions of elderly people which may reduce the negative effects of the aging process.Ítem A Randomized Controlled Trial Protocol to Test the Efficacy of a Dual-Task Multicomponent Exercise Program vs. a Simple Program on Cognitive and Fitness Performance in Elderly People(MDPI, 2021-06-06) Párraga, Juan Antonio; Aibar-Almazán, Agustín; Cabrera Linares, José Carlos; Lozano-Aguilera, Emilio; Serrano-Huete, Victor; Escarabajal, María Dolores; Latorre-Román, Pedro ÁngelBackground: The necessity of improve the life quality in elderly people is well-known. Despite some previous studies having examined the validity and reliability of the OptoGait™ system for measuring gait characteristics during walking, no previous works have determined the reliabil- ity and validity of this system while running on a treadmill. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the absolute reliabil- ity (within-subject variation) and evaluate the concurrent validity of the OptoGait™ system for measuring spatiotemporal variables while running at a comfortable speed by comparing data with a highly accurate system of measuring those para- meters (i.e. video analysis at 1000 Hz). Forty-nine endurance runners performed a running protocol on a treadmill at a comfortable speed. Two systems were used to collect data: OptoGait™ system and high-speed video analysis at 1000 Hz. The coefficient of variation (CV) was calculated as a measure of absolute reliability. The OptoGait™ system reported a CV range between 2.2% and 11.4% for spatiotemporal parameters, while the video analysis showed a CV range between 0.02% and 9.9%. To determine concurrent validity, intra class correlation coefficients (ICC) and pairwise comparisons of means (t-test) were calculated between data from both systems. Although the paired t-test demonstrated significant dif- ferences between systems, a high level of agreement (ICC . 0.89) was obtained in spatiotemporal parameters between systems. A.; García Ramos, Amador; Castaño Zambudio, Adrían; Capelo Ramírez, Fernando; González Hernández, Jorge M.; Cordero Rodríguez, Yaiza; Jiménez Reyes, PedroThis study explored the acute and delayed (24 and 48 hours after exercise) effects of a resistance training session leading to muscular failure. Eleven resistance-trained men completed a training session consisting on 3 sets of repetitions to failure during the back-squat exercise performed at the maximum possible speed with a load equivalent to a mean propulsive velocity (MPV) of 1 m·s−1 (≈60% of 1 repetition maximum). A number of mechanical (number of repetitions and starting MPV of the set, MPV achieved against the 1MPV load, countermovement jump [CMJ] height, and handgrip strength), metabolic (lactate, uric acid, and ammonia concentrations), and perceptual (OMNI-RES perceived exertion) variables were measured. The results revealed (a) a decrease of 38.7% in set 2 and 54.7% in set 3 of the number of repetitions performed compared with the first set (p < 0.05), (b) a reduction in the MPV of the repetitions and an increase in lactate concentration and OMNI-RES values with the succession of sets (p < 0.05), (c) comparable decrements in CMJ height after the 3 sets (25–32%), (d) a decrease in CMJ height (p < 0.05; 6.7–7.9%) and in the MPV attained against the 1MPV load (p < 0.05; 13–14%) after 24 and 48 hours of completing the training session, but no significant changes were observed in handgrip strength (p > 0.05; <2%), and (e) uric acid and ammonia concentrations above the basal levels (p < 0.05). The large decrements in mechanical performance together with the high metabolic stress discourage the frequent use of resistance training sessions leading to muscular failure.Ítem Agreement between the spatiotemporal gait parameters from two different wearable devices and high-speed video analy(Daniel Boullosa, University of Brasilia, BRAZIL, 2019-09-24) García-Pinillos, Felipe; Latorre Román, Pedro A.; Soto Hermoso, Victor M.; Párraga Montilla, Juan A.; Pantoja Vallejo, Antonio; Ramírez Campillo, Rodrigo; Roche-Seruendo, Luis E.This study aimed to evaluate the concurrent validity of two different inertial measurement units for measuring spatiotemporal parameters during running on a treadmill, by comparing data with a high-speed video analysis (VA) at 1,000 Hz. Forty-nine endurance runners performed a running protocol on a treadmill at comfortable velocity (i.e., 3.25 ± 0.36 m.s-1). Those wearable devices (i.e., Stryd™ and RunScribe™ systems) were compared to a highspeed VA, as a reference system for measuring spatiotemporal parameters (i.e. contact time [CT], flight time [FT], step frequency [SF] and step length [SL]) during running at comfortable velocity. The pairwise comparison revealed that the Stryd™ system underestimated CT (5.2%, p < 0.001) and overestimated FT (15.1%, p < 0.001) compared to the VA; whereas the RunScribe™ system underestimated CT (2.3%, p = 0.009). No significant differences were observed in SF and SL between the wearable devices and VA. The intra class correlation coefficient (ICC) revealed an almost perfect association between both systems and high-speed VA (ICC > 0.81). The Bland-Altman plots revealed heteroscedasticity of error (r2 = 0.166) for the CT from the Stryd™ system, whereas no heteroscedasticity of error (r2 < 0.1) was revealed in the rest of parameters. In conclusion, the results obtained suggest that both foot pods are valid tools for measuring spatiotemporal parameters during running on a treadmill at comfortable velocity. If the limits of agreement of both systems are considered in respect to high-speed VA, the RunScribe™ seems to be a more accurate system for measuring temporal parameters and SL than the Stryd™ system.Ítem Anaerobic Speed Reserve, Sprint Force–Velocity Profile, Kinematic Characteristics, and Jump Ability among Elite Male Speed- and Endurance-Adapted Milers(MDPI, 2022-01-27) Jiménez Reyes, Pedro; Cuadrdo Peñafiel, Victor; Párraga Montilla, Juan A.; Romero Franco, Natalia; Casado, ArturoAbstract: This study aimed to compare sprint, jump performance, and sprint mechanical variables between endurance-adapted milers (EAM, specialized in 1500–3000-m) and speed-adapted milers (SAM, specialized in 800–1500 m) and to examine the relationships between maximal sprint speed (MSS), anaerobic speed reserve (ASR), sprint, jump performance, and sprint mechanical characteristics of elite middle-distance runners. Fifteen participants (8 EAM; 7 SAM) were evaluated to obtain their maximal aerobic speed, sprint mechanical characteristics (force–velocity profile and kinematic variables), jump, and sprint performance. SAM displayed greater MSS, ASR, horizontal jump, sprint performance, and mechanical ability than EAM (p < 0.05). SAM also showed higher stiffness in the 40-m sprint (p = 0.026) and a higher ratio of horizontal-to-resultant force (RF) at 10 m (p = 0.003) and RFpeak (p = 0.024). MSS and ASR correlated with horizontal (r = 0.76) and vertical (r = 0.64) jumps, all sprint split times (r 0.85), stiffness (r = 0.86), and mechanical characteristics (r 0.56) during the 100-m sprint, and physical qualities during acceleration (r 0.66) and sprint mechanical effectiveness from the force–velocity profile (r 0.69). Season-best times in the 800 m were significantly correlated with MSS (r = 0.86). There are several balance measures but wide variation in their use has restricted the ca- pacity to synthesise references values. The main purpose of this study was to analyse the performance of the Balance beam test (BBT) in preschool children, according to age and sex providing BBT reference values, and also to analyse its reliability and validity. Research question: could the BBT be a reliable test for measuring dynamic balance in preschool children? Methods: 593 preschool children (3–6 years) participated in this study. The BBT was used to evaluate DB by measuring distance reached, time spent, and number of steps. Differences between sex and age groups were analysed using the Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis tests. Test-retest reliability analysis was performed using intraclass correlation coefficients and the Bland–Altman graphic. Convergent validity was investigated with the Stork Balance stand test (SBST). Results: no significant differences were found for sex in any components of the BBT. Age had positive effects on BBT performance in distance (χ2 = 63.474, p < 0.001), time (χ2 = 46.441, p < 0.001), and step numbers (χ2 = 40.967, p < 0.001). Younger children performed more poorly than older children. No significant in- teractions between age groups and sex were found. The BBT showed adequate validity and reliability. Significance: the reference values established for Spanish preschool children in the current study could be used to monitor DB development. It is necessary to take into account distance reached, time spent, and the steps taken to obtain a more precise measure of DB in this population."Ítem Analysis of foot strike pattern, rearfoot dynamic and foot rotation over childhood. A cross-sectional study(Routledge, part of the Taylor & Francis Group, 2019) Pedro Ángel Latorre Román; Fernando Redondo Balboa; Juan Párraga Montilla; Víctor Manuel Soto Hermoso, P; edro José Consuegra González & Felipe García PinillosThe purpose of this study was to determine the foot strike patterns (FSP), rearfoot position at initial contact (RPic, i.e., No INV/EVE) and foot rotation in children in relation to age. A total of 932 children aged 3 to 16 years participated in this study. A sagittal and frontal-plane video was recorded using a high-speed camcorder to analyse these variables. There is a significant increase (p < 0.001) of rearfoot strike patterns (RFS) prevalence in relation to age; e.g. preschool children (3–6 years old) displayed an RFS prevalence 46.65% and the adolescent population(15–16 years old) an RFS prevalence 92.20%. The total RFS prevalence in all samples was 69.25%. There was a significant reduction (p < 0.001) of prevalence of RPic in relation to age groups; preschool children displayed a prevalence of RPic 60.37% and the adolescent population 10%. There was a significant reduction (p < 0.001) of prevalence of no foot rotation in relation to age groups; preschool children displayed a prevalence of no foot rotation 48.95% and the adolescent population 13.55%. In conclusion, FSP in children are influenced by age. It is noteworthy that the RFS prevalence of children is lower in comparison to the adult population.Ítem Analysis of the influence of sports practice on prosocial and antisocial behaviour in a contemporary Spanish adolescent population(Edizioni Luigi Pozzi, 2023) Latorre Román, Pedro; Moreno del Castillo, Rafael; Salas Sánchez, Jesús; Párraga Montilla, Juan A.The main purpose of this study was to analyse prosocial and antisocial behaviour in adolescent athletes in relation to the type of athletic practice, the motivation for engaging in sport, and sex. Three hundred and seventy-four students (130 girls and 244 boys) (age range = 13-18 years) were divided into five groups. The Interpersonal Reactivity Index, the Antisocial Behaviour Questionnaire and the Exercise Behaviour Regulation Questionnaire (BREQ-3) was employed. In the athletes group, girls displayed higher values than boys in perspective-taking (p=.021), fantasy (p=.006), anxiety (p<.001), intrinsic regulation (p=.012), however, showed lower values in external regulation (p=.036). In the nonathletes group, girls showed higher values than boys in perspective-taking (p=.038), personal distress (p=.002), and anxiety (p=.032).Interactions between groups and sex indicated significant differences between boys in fantasy, aggression, isolation, and anxiety; there were significant differences in aggression in girls. The girls engaged in more prosocial conduct than the boys, while the nonathlete boys displayed more antisocial behaviour than the athlete boys. In conclusion, the associations between sports practice and the degree of antisocial or prosocial behaviour in adolescents could not be established. Moreover, several of the motivational factors that were investigated had no clear impact on either type of behaviour.Ítem ANEXO.
