Ítem Dos experiencias de aplicación del nexo investigación-docencia en ciencias sociales: la perspectiva del docente universitario(Universidad de Jaén, 2020) Cámara-Hueso, Antonio David; Barros, Francisco; Martínez-Carrión, José Miguel; Candela, BegoñaHay al menos tres planos desde los que el nexo metodológico investigación-docencia puede contemplarse como factor estratégico en el proceso de aprendizaje universitario: 1) el de la productividad y competitividad científico-académica a nivel institucional; 2) el de la capacitación individual de cara a la integración en mercados laborales crecientemente competitivos y 3) el de la mejora de la eficiencia en el planteamiento de proyectos y gestión de recursos en los sectores público y privado. En los tres planos resulta evidente la contribución potencial de una docencia interactiva y experimental que ceda protagonismo a los estudiantes en la consecución de competencias. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar y discutir dos experiencias inspiradas en estas metodologías que se desarrollan en asignaturas de grados de Ciencias Sociales en las Universidades de Jaén y Murcia. En torno a dichas experiencias se comentan algunos recursos de aprendizaje aplicados en distintas fases del curso y con distintas finalidades: fundamentos de diagnóstico a partir de la resolución de problemas de investigación, asimilación práctica de conceptos, técnicas de generación y de recopilación de información, y elaboración de soportes mediáticos para la presentación y difusión de resultados de investigación. Finalmente se presentan y discuten, desde el punto de vista docente, algunos resultados de aprendizaje obtenidos, las principales dificultades detectadas en la aplicación de la metodología y los avances obtenidos en las competencias establecidas originalmente.Ítem Sociodemographic analysis of an accelerated transition: the rise of solo living in Spain(Routledge, 2021) Cámara-Hueso, Antonio David; Rodríguez-Guzmán, Carmen; Barroso-Benítez, Inmaculada; Morente-Mejías, FelipeThe rise in one-person households is one of themost significant sociodemographic phenomenaWestern societies have undergone since the mid-twentieth century. It is a phenomenon of particular interest in societies where family has traditionally held an important role in determining living arrangements. In Spain, only 4.1% of the population lived alone in 1991 while currently such percentage is more than 10% and approximately one in four homes are one-person households. This study analyses the process of generational replacement of these households taking into consideration four sociodemographic variables: age, sex, marital status and level of education. The influence of these variables, together with labour status, on solo living is examined between 1991 and 2011 by applying demographic analysis and multivariate logistic regression models to census microdata samples from the Spanish National Institute of Statistics. Results show an inter-generational increase in solo living, affecting all age groups, as well as a diversification of the demographic profile of solo dwellers in Spain over the last three decades. This trend did not interrupt during the economic recession although being employed increased the probability of living alone invariably. Other factors contributing to a higher probability of living alone were being man and having higher education level (particularly among women). We find notable changes in the sociological profile of these households: an increase in the relative weight of young solo-dwellers and a drop in the weight of widowhood in favour of singlehood. These results are discussed in the context of the social changes that Spain has undergone.Ítem Solo-Living and Social Individualization: Analysis of Life Experience among Young Women in Spain(SAGE, 2023) Rodríguez-Guzmán, Carmen; Barros, Francisco; Barroso-Benítez, Inmaculada; Cámara-Hueso, Antonio DavidThe increase in one-person households is regarded as a manifestation of the process of social individualization that strengthens individuals’ ability to make lifestyle choices to the detriment of certain social institutions. However, the background circumstances to solo living can vary widely and often stem from structural determinants, such as gender inequalities, within the framework of a highly competitive society. This article analyses the nature and social significance of solo living in Spain through a case study of young adult women (25–45 years of age) residing in an urban environment (Barcelona and Jaen). The analyses focus on aspects connected with the theory of social individualization (e.g. the demands of working life and expectations regarding life partners, motherhood and social relations). Four different profiles of women can be distinguished in the results: ‘cosmopolitans’, ‘unconditionals’, ‘empowered’, and ‘temporaries’. In broad terms, the interviewees’ narratives bear witness to the process of individualization (self realization with which to engage in a personal life project), although tensions come into play between personal expectations and the demands of working life, especially in the spheres of sexual partnership and motherhood.
