LA PREVENCIÓN DE LESIONES POR PRESIÓN: CONOCIMIENTOS, ACTITUDES Y BARRERAS DE LOS PROFESIONALES DE ENFERMERÍA.

Abstract

Las lesiones por presión (LLP) constituyen un importante problema de salud y suponen importantes consecuencias para las personas afectando a la calidad de vida de las personas que las sufren, siendo consideradas como eventos adversos en diversas políticas nacionales e internacionales relacionadas con la seguridad del paciente. La prevención se erige como un factor clave en el manejo de estas lesiones, donde los profesionales de enfermería juegan un papel fundamental por ser el personal encargado del cuidado directo. En la prevención que estos profesionales realizan intervienen diversas variables: conocimientos en prevención de LPP, actitudes y barreras percibidas hacia la prevención. El desarrollo y validación de tres instrumentos actualizados que midan dichas variables, la determinación de la relación que existen entre ellas además de los factores demográficos y formativos permitirán establecer intervenciones eficaces que permitan una adecuada prevención por parte de los profesionales de enfermería.

Pressure injuries (PI) are a major health problem and have important consequences for affecting life quality of life of people who suffer them. Those are being considered as adverse events in various national and international policies related to patient safety. Prevention is a key factor in the management of these injuries, where nursing professionals play a fundamental role as well as the personnel in charge of patient direct care. In the prevention that these professionals carry out there are several variables intervene: knowledge in PI prevention, attitudes and perceived barriers towards prevention. The development and validation of three updated instruments that measure these variables, the determination of the relationship between them as well as the demographic and training factors, will allow the establishment of effective interventions which will led to accurate prevention from nursing professionals.
