DEL CAMPO A LA MINA: LA SOCIEDAD URBANA LINARENSE ENTRE DOS SIGLOS (1880-1945)

Abstract

Es de señalar las carencias que presenta la historiografía sobre la sociedad urbana andaluza en general. Así mismo, hemos de destacar la escasa importancia que se le ha dado al componente agrario en el nacimiento y desarrollo de ciudades industrializadas. El caso de Linares constituye uno de los ejemplos más paradigmáticos; pues se trata de una ciudad minera que se nutre, desde mediados del siglo XIX hasta los años cuarenta del pasado siglo, de población procedente en su inmensa mayoría de ámbitos provinciales y comarcales agrarios. La novedosa metodología, consistente en bucear en los padrones como herramienta básica y complementarlos con otras fuentes documentales como Registro Civil, tratados con el sistema internacional de estudios sociolaborales HISCO, se erigen aquí como poderosos medios para el estudio de una ciudad desde distintas perspectivas: demográfica, socio-laboral y socio-espacial.

It is worth noting the existing gap in historiography related to the urban Andalusian society in general. Likewise, we must emphasize the scant importance that has been given to the agrarian component in the birth and development of industrialized cities. The case of Linares is one of the most paradigmatic examples; it is a mining city, which, from the mid-nineteenth century to the forties in the last century, was supported by a population coming in the vast majority of cases from provincial and county agricultural areas. The novel methodology, consisting in looking into the registers as a basic tool and complementing them with other documentary sources such as Civil Registry, treated with the international system of socio-labor studies HISCO, stands here as a powerful mean for the study of a city from different perspectives: demographic , socio-labor and socio-spatial.
