Salud y cánones de belleza en la mujer de sociedades árabes y africanas

Abstract

Esta investigación pretende estudiar un problema de salud que se está haciendo más común en ciertas sociedades como es la obesidad y los métodos usados para alcanzar los cánones de belleza, sobre todo en mujeres de sociedades árabes y del África subsahariana, tanto por motivos estéticos, al igual que por otras motivaciones más preocupantes como puede ser el matrimonio o la aceptación por parte del género masculino. Se ha realizado una investigación mixta, para el estudio cuantitativo se diseñó un análisis observacional, descriptivo, correlacional y transversal con un cuestionario autoadministrado de recogida de datos, realizado por los investigadores incluyendo todas las variables que se quieren analizar con relación a este fenómeno; y para el estudio cualitativo es un estudio descriptivo para la comprensión de los hechos en su contexto natural. Los resultados nos llevan a pensar que es una práctica bastante extendida entre mujeres de estas sociedades y donde la relación con la salud no está objetivamente valorada.

This research aims to study a health problem that is becoming more common in certain societies such as obesity and the methods used to achieve beauty standards, especially in women from Arab societies and Sub-Saharan Africa, both for aesthetic reasons, as well as for other more worrying motivations such as marriage or acceptance by the male gender. A mixed investigation has been carried out, for the quantitative study an observational, descriptive, correlational and transversal analysis was designed with a self-administered data collection questionnaire, carried out by the researchers including all the variables that they want to analyze in relation to this phenomenon; and for the qualitative study it is a descriptive study for the understanding of the facts in their natural context. The results lead us to think that it is a fairly widespread practice among women in these societies and where the relationship with health is not objectively valued.
