Tejidos de seda labrados en el siglo XVIII: manufacturas, comercio, usos y diseños

Abstract

La presente tesis doctoral da a conocer las principales manufacturas sederas francesas, italianas y españolas del siglo XVIII. Seguidamente, relata el intercambio de tejidos en España a través del comercio. Además, establece las pautas para la descripción de trajes, mobiliario y decoración, carruajes, ornamentos litúrgicos y vestiduras de imagen, es decir, todo aquello que, perteneciente a esta centuria, esté confeccionado o revestido con telas labradas. Por último, se analizan los diferentes diseños textiles y su datación, gracias a los parámetros descritos en cuanto a forma, tamaño, colores y disposición de los motivos ornamentales sobre el fondo. A lo largo de la investigación se presta especial atención a los ejemplos conservados en la diócesis de Jaén por su riqueza tipológica cuantitativa y cualitativa. Nuestro trabajo incorpora, además, un glosario de términos textiles que aúna conceptos históricos extraídos de fondos archivísticos inéditos, tipológicos, decorativos y técnicos.

This thesis issues the main French, Italian and Spaniard silk manufactures of the 18th century. Thereupon, tells the tissues exchange in Spain through trade. Moreover, establish the patterns for the description of garments, furniture and decoration, carriages, liturgical ornaments and self-image, that is to say, everything which belongs to this century, even though it is tailored or coated with carved fabrics. Lastly, different textiles designs and their dating are analysed, due to the described parameters in respect of shape, size, colours and the disposition of the ornamental motifs on the background. Over the course of the investigation specific attention is paid to the instances preserved in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jaén due to its quantitative, qualitative and typology wealth. Our work also includes a glossary of textiles terms which joins historical concepts taken from unprecedented, typological, decorative and technical documentary funds.
