This thesis is intended to research on the connections established between the different aspects developed by this paper’s author as music performer and oboe teacher, investigating the actions and consequences related to breathing while performing Concert in D mayor for oboe and small orchestra Op. 144 (TrV 292) by Richard Strauss (1947) and experimenting new actions within this performance in order to facilitate the creative process of this piece for music students. In order to reach this objective, this research will be based on a methodological guide called “a/r/tography”, corresponding with the initials in the words “artist”(a), “researcher”(r) and” teacher” (t), which, at the same time, form the word “art”. This method uses personal and professional experience as the source of knowledge, performance as the artistic creative model and research as the means to investigate and search for new sources. This is a concept involving the artist, the teacher and the researcher as a single unit focused on the building of new performing and learning strategies for an educational purpose.
