ALTERACIONES NEUROPSICOLÓGICAS EN LA FIBROMIALGIA Y SU RELACIÓN CON VARIABLES CLÍNICAS.

Abstract

La fibromialgia o Síndrome de Fibromialgia (SFM) es una condición de dolor crónico de etiología y patofisiología desconocidas que predomina fundamentalmente en mujeres, caracterizado por dolor musculoesquelético difuso, generalizado y no inflamatorio que se acompaña además de síntomas como rigidez matutina, fatiga, alternaciones emocionales tales como ansiedad y depresión, alteraciones del sueño y deterioro cognitivo. el objetivo principal de la presente Tesis Doctoral consistió en analizar en profundidad las alteraciones neuropsicológicas presentes en la fibromialgia teniendo en cuenta como posibles factores explicativos de estas alteraciones, variables clínicas tales como la intensidad del dolor clínico, la psicopatología comórbida, la intensidad de los estados emocionales de ansiedad y depresión, el nivel de fatiga, los trastornos del sueño, el tipo de medicación tomada, y el índice de masa corporal (IMC).Fibromyalgia or Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a chronic pain condition of unknown aetiology and pathophysiology that predominates mainly in women, characterised by diffuse, generalised and non-inflammatory musculoskeletal pain that is also accompanied by symptoms such as morning stiffness, fatigue, emotional alterations such as anxiety and depression, sleep disturbances and cognitive impairment. The main objective of this Doctoral Thesis was to analyse in depth the neuropsychological alterations present in fibromyalgia, taking into account clinical variables such as the intensity of clinical pain, comorbid psychopathology, the intensity of the emotional states of anxiety and depression, the level of fatigue, sleep disorders, the type of medication taken, and the body mass index (BMI) as possible explanatory factors for these alterations.
