dc.description	Objective: To determine the effect of a directed vestibular rehabilitation program with manual therapy on dizziness-related disability and imbalance symptoms. Design: Double-blind randomized controlled trial. Subjects: Eighty patients with peripheral unilateral vestibular hypofunction. Intervention: Patients in the control group (n=40) underwent a directed vestibular rehabilitation therapy program, while those in the experimental group (n=40) underwent the same program plus manual therapy once a week for four weeks. Results: At the four-week point significant improvements were observed in the DHI total score and intensity in favor of the treatment group. After one month, between-group differences were statistically significant for the same outcomes. Six months after the intervention the experimental group exhibited significant improvements in the average displacement speed of the center of pressure with eyes open; there were significant improvements in DHI total score, as well as physical, emotional, and functional subscales.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Objetivo: Determinar el efecto de un programa de rehabilitación vestibular dirigida junto con terapia manual sobre la discapacidad relacionada con el mareo y los síntomas de desequilibrio. Diseño: Ensayo controlado aleatorizado doble ciego. Sujetos: Total 80 pacientes con hipofunción vestibular unilateral periférica Intervención: El grupo de control (n=40) se sometió a un programa de terapia de rehabilitación vestibular dirigida. El grupo experimental (n=40) se sometieron al mismo programa más terapia manual una vez a la semana durante cuatro semanas. Resultados: Post-intervención se observaron mejoras significativas en la puntuación total DHI en el grupo de tratamiento. Después de un mes, las diferencias entre los grupos fueron estadísticamente significativas para los mismos resultados. Seis meses post-intervención el grupo experimental mostró mejoras significativas en la velocidad promedio de desplazamiento del centro de presión con los ojos abiertos, en la puntuación total del DHI, así como en las subescalas física, emocional y funcional.	es_ES
