The general aim of this Doctoral Thesis has been to analyze the relationship of physical fitness variables with cognitive variables in adolescents, as well as the effect of different physical activity programs during the school day (cooperative-high intensity interval training [C-HIIT] and active breaks) on cognitive performance. For this, five articles have been carried out and several presentations have been shown in international congresses in Spain and Portugal. The results show that high cardiorespiratory fitness is associated with greater memory, mathematical calculation, linguistic reasoning and creativity in adolescents. Performing 16 minutes of C-HIIT at the beginning of the school day, improves attention and concentration during the next 2 hours. Active breaks programs between subjects can have an immediate and long-term effect on variables such as memory, attention, concentration and mathematical calculation.
