RECORD OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES DURING THE APTIAN OF THE PREBETIC (BETIC EXTERNAL ZONES). CHARACTERIZATION, CORRELATION AND CONTROL FACTORS

Abstract

La tesis doctoral que se plantea se encuadra en el ámbito de la Estratigrafía, en concreto aborda el análisis de cuencas de un sector del Prebético (Zonas Externas Béticas). El aspecto más relevante de la misma es el desarrollo de una investigación centrada en la caracterización, desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar, de los notables y variados cambios ambientales acaecidos durante el Aptiense, de gran interés para la comunidad científica, en tanto que pueden ser considerados como análogos del cambio climático actual. Los objetivos generales del trabajo son caracterizar, datar y correlacionar los cambios ambientales y bióticos registrados en las sucesiones estratigráficas seleccionadas de rocas sedimentarias de origen marino del Aptiense del Prebético. Los resultados obtenidos han supuesto un avance en el conocimiento de los procesos sedimentarios y cambios ambientales que sucedieron en el Cretácico inferior, en el contexto de los cambios globales que acontecieron en esta época.

This doctoral thesis is framed in the field of Stratigraphy, specifically it addresses the analysis of basins of a sector of the Prebetic (External Betic Areas). The most relevant aspect of it is the development of an investigation focused on the characterization, from a multidisciplinary perspective, of the notable and varied environmental changes that occurred during the Aptian period, of great interest to the scientific community, insofar as they can be considered as analogues of current climate change. The general objectives of the work are to characterize, date and correlate the environmental and biotic changes recorded in the selected stratigraphic successions of sedimentary rocks of marine origin from the Prebetic Aptian. The results obtained have supposed an advance in the knowledge of the sedimentary processes and environmental changes that occurred in the Lower Cretaceous, in the context of the global changes that occurred at this time.
