EL OBJETO COTIDIANO COMO PORTADOR DE SIGNIFICADO. NUEVAS MIRADAS DESDE LA PROPIA EXPERIENCIA ARTÍSTICA Y DOCENTE EN ESCULTURA

Abstract

En esta tesis se aborda el estudio de los objetos cotidianos en el arte desde un doble enfoque, artístico y docente, mostrando su evolución con el fin de evaluar su relevancia y vigencia en el contexto actual. En primer lugar, se analizan y contraponen diversas obras de arte internacionales, principalmente en el ámbito de la escultura, interpretando los significados contenidos en las obras, estudiando las metodologías utilizadas y relacionándolas, en la medida de lo posible, con el trabajo del colectivo Llobet & Pons, al cual pertenece la autora de esta investigación desde 2002. El segundo enfoque proviene de la propia experiencia docente como profesora en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Barcelona. Los objetos cotidianos representan un poderoso y poco explorado recurso didáctico que puede utilizarse con la intención de que el alumnado descubra, analice y desarrolle un lenguaje escultórico único y personal en obras de nueva creación, ya que esta tarea constituye un elemento fundamental en su futura práctica artística profesional. En concreto, nos hemos centrado en una serie de actividades docentes, diseñadas expresamente durante la pandemia de Covid-19, que tienen como objetivo proporcionar soluciones para abordar la nueva situación de la enseñanza tras la crisis sanitaria. Como resultado, se abre el debate a una revisión actualizada del concepto de readymade, a la interpretación de los significados del objeto cotidiano en el arte y en su docencia y, en concreto, a la aplicación de las figuras retóricas como una herramienta, más allá de estilos y movimientos artísticos, que revela la verdadera dimensión social y política que pueden adquirir los objetos cuando se integran en obras de arte.

This thesis addresses the study of everyday objects in art from a double approach, artistic and educational, reflecting their evolution in order to evaluate their relevance and validity in the current context. Firstly, various international artworks are analyzed and contrasted, mainly in the field of sculpture, interpreting the meanings contained in the works, studying the methodologies used and relating them, as far as possible, with the work of the Llobet & Pons collective, to which the author of this research belongs since 2002. The second approach comes from my own teaching experience as a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona. Everyday objects represent a powerful and little explored didactic resource that can be used with the intention that students discover, analyze and develop a unique and personal sculptural language in newly created works, since this task constitutes a crucial element in their future professional artistic practice. Specifically, we have focused on a series of teaching activities, expressly designed during the Covid-19 pandemic, which aim to provide solutions to address the new situation of teaching after the health crisis. As a result, the debate opens to an updated review of the concept of readymade, to the interpretation of the meanings of the everyday object in art and its teaching and, specifically, to the application of rhetorical figures as a tool, beyond of artistic styles and movements, which reveals the true social and political dimension that objects can acquire when integrated into works of art.
